Helmut Hillencamp's Metal Gate In Santa Fe, N.M.

For many years we lived across the street from the Fayette Street Academy

where interesting things were always going on.

One of those things was the evolving metal gate 

built by Helmut Hillencamp of Iron to Live With.

Metal Handles And Latches For Doors, Drawers, And Gates

Going through my photos I could see that it was time to look at handles

 for doors, drawers and gates to give a few ideas for designers, and builders.

Above are handles for the doors into the Albuquerque Aquarium.

One of the more interesting buildings in Baja California Sur,

if not a bit out of place,

is the Iglesia Santa Barbara in Santa Rosalia, Baja California Sur.

The Cross At La Santisima Trinidad Church In Arroyo Seco, N.M.

This year we were in the area and stopped by again 

and were lucky enough to be there when the care taker was working

 and we got a private tour.

 but for this one I want to show you the cross out front.

I wanted to inspire all of those who may have to tie rebar 

for their next project.

The Finished Shipping Container Building

I first became aware of this shipping container building

 almost a year ago when I wrote my first post on it,

 Shipping Container Buildings, when it was just a shell.

Metal Sculpture In The Garden

Not being a metal worker (one of the few trades I have not dabbled in much)

 I have done very little with metal work in this blog.

Let's look at some metal sculpture now.

We found the above piece in Bisbee, Arizona.

Bicycle Truck

Yesterday was the last day of the

Festival Cultural Alphonso Ortiz Tirado 2011 in Alamos, Sonora, 

and as I was sitting waiting for a midday act to start

 I spied this incredible bicycle truck.

More Gates

It is time to look at some more gates.

More On Shipping Container Building

Back on May 16th I wrote a post on Shipping Container Buildings
and as I was reading the local Santa Fe arts guide yesterday, Pasatiempo
 in the Santa Fe New Mexican, there was an article on the very same project.

Shipping Container Buildings

When we were in Santa Fe, New Mexico yesterday we happened
 to notice this building made from shipping containers in the Baca St.
 end of the rail yards project. 

Concrete Walls For A Concrete Bridge

As soon as the piers in this row ( please refer to the previous blog )

 were finished a crew started right to work

 on what I suppose would be called the footer.

 You can see the rebar from the piers sticking up from the water.

Now here is something a bit different. 

Ever need some concrete piers for that backyard project? 

Well when we were in San Carlos, Sonora this winter a new bridge

 was being built to replace one that was washed out by a hurricane last fall

 providing much entertainment to the people wintering there including

 myself. Above the crew is just starting to drill a hole with the auger bit

 you see on the pile driver.
