Installing Large Size Sun Room Windows

After having built and lived in quite a few passive solar sun rooms over the last 40 years 

I have come up with a good way to set the large double glazed glass units

 that are commonly used for such rooms.

About a year and a half ago we purchased a passive solar heated adobe fixer upper

 with a very long 80' sunroom, built in the mid 1980's.

Exterior Cement Trim For Doorways And Windows In Mexico

I am constantly amazed at the mastery 

of the finished cement and concrete work in Mexico 

and it is no wonder as the prevalence of termites

 makes the use of wood almost impossible.

These first four photos are from San Carlos, Sonora.

Concrete Chimneys, Skylights, And Cooling Vents In Mexico

All over Mexico one sees beautiful examples of preformed concrete work, 

and in this post I will concentrate on chimneys, skylights, and cooling vents.

I have never watched how they make these but

 I am assuming they are indeed preformed.

Round Windows and Diamonds

There is an allure to round windows.

Even though they can be quite difficult to construct people still love them

 and they even have a sort of soothing effect. 

These first two were designed by Paolo Soleri,

who seems to love the round form.

Now let's look at skylights.

Here in Alamos skylights are often used in remodeling

 as the old homes can be quite dark.

But they are not the type of skylights we are used to in the states.
