As the weather turns colder

 it is nice to look back at some of my older posts from Mexico 

and this one comes from December 16th, 2010.

We have visited all these spots over the last five years.

 we were advised by fellow travelers to visit the Paricutin Volcano.

I am constantly amazed at the mastery 

of the finished cement and concrete work in Mexico 

and it is no wonder as the prevalence of termites

 makes the use of wood almost impossible.

 Villa Patzcuaro Garden Hotel and RV Park

and as luck would have it the owners son was an architect 

and contractor with an adobe making operation adjacent to the campground.

Hernan Pimentel concentrated on modern design 

using traditional materials and techniques.

The pit above is in an arroyo which fills back up with dirt 

after the summer rains so each year more adobe dirt.

 to replace a bridge that was washed out by a hurricane the previous fall.

 were finished a crew started right to work

 on what I suppose would be called the footer.

Now here is something a bit different. 

Ever need some concrete piers for that backyard project? 

Well when we were in San Carlos, Sonora this winter a new bridge

 was being built to replace one that was washed out by a hurricane last fall

 providing much entertainment to the people wintering there including

 myself. Above the crew is just starting to drill a hole with the auger bit

 you see on the pile driver.
