When the weather gets hot it is nice to head up to Arroyo Seco
a few miles northeast of Taos on the way to the Taos Ski Valley
and cool off.
Although the business above seemed closed
I really like the metal work in the sign.
There are a few interesting shops and galleries for tourists.
It seems when we are traveling we end up around art and/or artists,
plus they often have interesting homes, studios, or galleries.
In particular in Arroyo Seco there is sculpture and ceramics.
These beautiful bronze sculptures are right along the road
in front of Claire Works Gallery...
...and are the work of Claire Haye.
Just across the road is the Scott Carlson Pottery,
whose mosaic I featured earlier this year in the post:
The faces all come from a mold
that he made from an impression he had on his house.
The original was a clay face stuck in the stucco by the front door.
A new twist on cow sculpture.
Throw in the bones.
In a tribute to the earlier residents of this little village
is this fence in front of the church.
For some people art revolves around their religion.
