a finish that resembles carved cantera stone.

I had the pleasure to meet Senior Porfirio Bustillo,

  a mason in Alamo, Sonora who specializes in fireplaces.

These next couple posts will concentrate on the work he is doing 

on his house which is under construction.

Building A Brick House In Mexico

I have always been very curious about building in Mexico and 

this winter I have been trying to learn more about the various facets.

Now let's look at skylights.

Here in Alamos skylights are often used in remodeling

 as the old homes can be quite dark.

But they are not the type of skylights we are used to in the states.

Cement Trim And Brick Floor Detail

You may remember this photo above, 

from a post I did on Ernesto and Elena's remodel 

on a very old house in Alamos, Sonora.

I want to get back to technique;

 and when I took the photo Ernesto had said he wanted to trim out

 the base columns for the archway into the kitchen.

 is this kitchen that Doug has just finished remodeling.

Over the past few years we have been visiting Alamos, Sonora, Mexico,

 as readers of this blog may have noticed.

 Alamos has beautifully restored homes dating back over 300 years 

and I am constantly looking at the building techniques that are used here.

One that I have been wondering about is how to make the above scallop design.

Just over a week ago we were sitting at the Epic Cafe in Tucson

I took last year showing the form work for the above bridge
 in Alamos, Sonora, Mexico.

When we were in Alamos, Sonora, Mexico last winter,

 we came across this pedestrian bridge under construction.

We are still on the road in Arizona and finding limited
 access to the internet, more guns than internet here,
 but I wanted to continue on the use of cement 

or concrete as a finish material, this time in cabinetry
in Mexico.
