It has been awhile since I have done much on passive solar ideas

 so here are some different things for heating space, water, and food.

Stone Homesteaders Cabin

Recently we were at Boyce Thompson Arboretum near Superior, Arizona

and came across this homesteaders cabin from the turn of the century.

Round Windows and Diamonds

There is an allure to round windows.

Even though they can be quite difficult to construct people still love them

 and they even have a sort of soothing effect. 

These first two were designed by Paolo Soleri,

who seems to love the round form. 

The Finished Shipping Container Building

I first became aware of this shipping container building

 almost a year ago when I wrote my first post on it,

In early March we stopped by the Boyce Thompson Arboretum 

near Superior, Arizona east of Phoenix.

Patagonia, Arizona is a small town with a wealth of old adobes,

which I would guess mostly date to the last quarter of the 19th century, 

and the beginning of the 20th.
