Building Mexico Update

Almost a year ago I did a post on the typical building style here
which is a concrete post and beam with brick infill.

In this post we will concentrate on the bond beam.

 who is a mason here in Alamo, Sonora.

He specializes in fireplaces.

Kites And The Future Builders Of Mexico

In the neighborhood where our trailer park is,

 here in Alamos, Sonora, 

the kids fly homemade kites most every day.

Old Adobes

In the past month or so we have passed by three old adobe houses.

 and I would look at it amazement at what an incredible building it is.

Cement Trim And Brick Floor Detail

You may remember this photo above, 

from a post I did on Ernesto and Elena's remodel 

on a very old house in Alamos, Sonora.

I want to get back to technique;

 and when I took the photo Ernesto had said he wanted to trim out

 the base columns for the archway into the kitchen.

We were fortunate to be invited into Sam and Carol's home

 here in Alamos, Sonora.

An Old Adobe Cottage in Alamos, Sonora

Our friends Steve and MaryJane have a house in Alamos 

with a very nice casita on the property.

It is a very old adobe that has been remodeled, 

and I think of it as being in a cottage style.

I had been wanting to make cards for this blog for some time now

and while we have been in Alamos, Sonora I found out about a print shop

 that uses 100+ year old presses with hand set type. 

So for this blogs first birthday I finally got my cards.
