One of the more interesting buildings in Eureka Springs
is the Carnegie Free Public Library.
As much of Eureka Springs sits on very steep hills,
there are two long and grand stone stairways leading up to the front door.
This is a beautifully designed and built stone building that constantly amazes me
as I see details that I had previously overlooked.
Having been built in 1910 with traditional materials
I am impressed by some of the modernist styles shown
such as the wall around the front porch...
...and the stone trim around the windows.
The wall on the front side is built off the limestone bedrock
and above you may notice the different stone used in each section.
Down on the street level are two small stained glass windows,
good examples of the emerging American arts and crafts movement
of the 20th century.
